SEC Football: No. 5 LSU Tigers ready for annual rivalry game against No. 22 Florida Gators
In what was once an unexpectedly intriguing SEC football game, the No. 5 LSU Tigers and the No. 22 Florida Gators are getting ready to play. The Tigers and Gators have earned their rankings after proving themselves time and time again through the first month of the season.
LSU has battled their way into the top 5 after having plenty of questions regarding its head coach and the future of this program in the offseason. Florida has found some life with Dan Mullen leading them and, as MSU fans are all to aware, the Gators snuck back into the rankings after they beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville.
In the offseason, this game didn’t appear to be all that interesting. However, these two teams have fought hard to make it intriguing for a multitude of reasons.

Why does this matter for Mississippi State football fans?
We’re about to get a look at a couple of things. One, we’re going to start to figure out just how good the LSU Tigers actually are. Yes, they’ve earned their ranking and have played well, but if they dispatch of the Florida Gators easily, then that’s certainly a cause for concern for Mississippi State football fans.
The other thing is we’re going to see just how good Florida is in Dan Mullen’s first year. Mullen has done pretty well for himself in his first year back in the Swamp, but LSU is potentially a whole different challenge.
If the Florida Gators can compete in this game, then it’ll be telling of just how quickly that turnaround in Gainesville will happen.
