The Mississippi State baseball team is aiming to survive another elimination game in Tallahassee, Florida
Yesterday, in incredible fashion, the Mississippi State baseball team beat the Florida State Seminoles by a score of 3-2. That win came thanks to a three-run home run in the bottom of the 9th inning with two outs and two strikes to Elijah MacNamee. And, with one swing of his bat, MacNamee ended Florida State’s season in their own regional in their own stadium.
Now, the Mississippi State baseball team is hoping to keep playing. They need another win to survive and advance on to the Tallahassee Regional Championship. In the Bulldogs’ way stands the Samford Bulldogs.
Samford’s game against Oklahoma didn’t exactly go as they had planned it. The Oklahoma Sooners won 4-0 and advanced on to the Tallahassee Regional Championship. Now, if MSU wants to extend their season out, it must get past Samford for a chance at a rematch with Oklahoma in the championship.

The last time that Mississippi State and Samford faced each other in Tallahassee, Samford came out on top. Twice. The MSU Bulldogs were bested by their Samford counterparts in the opening game of the regional and then also in the second elimination game of that weekend.

But this Mississippi State baseball team has proven capable of shocking people. The MSU Bulldogs will need to play well today, but they are 10-1 against top 10 teams this year and have won in some of the strangest circumstances this season. Hopefully State can get another win today and challenge Oklahoma in a rematch later today.
