Another player has left the Mississippi State baseball program in search of greener pastures elsewhere as the Bulldogs saw a pitcher leave through the transfer portal.

Chris Lemonis has plenty of work to do this offseason and one big place where the Bulldogs need some help is with the pitching staff. And it looks like the Mississippi State baseball team will be without a pitcher from this past season as Graham Yntema has announced his intention to play elsewhere.

Yntema is leaving Starkville and will be headed east to play in Macon, Georgia as the Mercer Bears will be bringing him on to their roster.

That opens up a roster spot for a new pitcher to come in, but it also means that Lemonis and new Mississippi State Bulldogs pitching coach Justin Parker need to have someone lined up to come play in Starkville.

Mississippi State baseball: Graham Yntema announces his new transfer destination

Yntema took to Twitter to announce his decision to head to Macon and, in the process, made sure to thank the “entire Mississippi State baseball family” for the past year.

During his time with the Bulldogs, Yntema showed some flashes of serious potential, like when he struck out six batters and only allowed three hits and one run in five innings against the Arizona State Sun Devils early on in the season.

But ultimately, like much of the rest of the pitching staff (and the team), Yntema struggled at times. Yntema’s only season in Starkville ends with him recording a 10.55 ERA on the year.

Prior to playing for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Yntema spent a couple seasons at Lawson State Community College. And now he’s on the move again, this time to play for the Mercer Bears. Maybe a fresh start with a new team will be good for his career and development.
