The Mississippi State baseball team is in its second elimination game of the Tallahassee Regional

Yesterday, the Mississippi State baseball team proved that this season isn’t over just yet. In walk off fashion, the Bulldogs beat the hosting Florida State Seminoles 3-2 thanks to a three-run home run from Elijah MacNamee.

That was Mississippi State’s first elimination game. Now, MSU must win another if the Bulldogs want to continue on with their season. This time, the Mississippi State baseball team will be battling the Samford Bulldogs in the second elimination game of the Tallahassee Regional.

Samford and Oklahoma battled in the winner’s bracket last night. Unfortunately for the Samford Bulldogs, Oklahoma was just a little too much for them. The Sooners came away with a 4-0 win last night thanks to solid pitching and timely hitting. That’s set up this elimination game to be a rematch of the second elimination game from the 2012 Tallahassee Regional.

Back in 2012, the Samford Bulldogs sent the Mississippi State Bulldogs home to Starkville. MSU fell in their first game against Samford to get the 2012 Tallahassee Regional started and then couldn’t survive through their second matchup with Samford.

And here we are in 2018, with Mississippi State baseball about to take on Samford yet again. Just like last time, this game is in Tallahassee.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have accomplished a lot with their backs against the wall and things stacked against them this season. This team has proven to be able to win when circumstances aren’t in their favor.

If they can do it again today, MSU will advance on to the Tallahassee Regional Championship round. That will set up the Mississippi Start Bulldogs with another chance to take on Oklahoma. Given how the first game went, MSU would almost certainly love a chance at redemption there too.
