After another exciting week of SEC football, here’s our most recent power rankings.

Last week’s slate of SEC games provided some insight into where each team stands at this point in the season. Certain teams are really thriving while others plummet to the cellar. Alabama continued their dominance by beating Texas A&M in last week’s biggest showdown. Auburn put on a clinic against Arkansas and LSU welcomed back Leonard Fournette who shoved it down Ole Miss’ throat. Kentucky became the first East team to beat a team from the West on a game winning field goal against MSU. And South Carolina and Missouri got all they could handle from non-conference opponents. Heading into week nine, here’s the rankings.

14. Missouri- If I could have dropped the Tigers down a spot I would after their loss to Middle Tennessee State but they were already at No. 14.

13. South Carolina- The Gamecocks found the resemblance of an offense with QB Jake Bentley and became the third SEC school to beat UMass in 2016. Maybe this is the beginning of a turn around for SC.

12. Vanderbilt- In the first have it looked Vandy was going to Vandy their way into a loss to Tennessee State. The Dores used a power running game to comeback in the second half and win easily.

More from Mississippi State Bulldogs News

11. Mississippi State- Our Bulldogs drop a spot after losing to Kentucky for the first time in eight years. With a defense that can’t stop anything, MSU will struggle to win another SEC game this year.

10. Kentucky- It took a couple of trick plays and a last second field goal but UK got the win over MSU. The Wildcats could break the 5-win barrier and finally make a bowl in 2016.

9. Georgia- I’m interested to see how UGA preforms off their bye week as they enter “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” this week against Florida.

8. Florida- Speaking of the Gators, they also had week 8 off to get healthy and prepare. Florida is still alive in the East so they need to get hot.

7. Ole Miss- The Rebels are really reeling right now. Consecutive losses to Arkansas and LSU and all hope is lost for OM. Oh and don’t forget the looming NCAA sanctions.

6. Arkansas- Just when I go all in on the Hogs they go and lose to Auburn. And it wasn’t just a loss it was a colossal beat down.

5. LSU- The Bayou Bengals put it all together against Ole Miss last week. With a good defense and a really good running game, LSU is still alive in the SEC West.

4. Auburn- Gus Malhzan handed over play calling duties to Rhett Lashlee and the Tigers have been rolling every since. They dropped 56 on Arkansas last week and are headed in the right direction.

3. Tennessee- I’m a believer in the Vols. It was a rough two weeks against A&M and Bama but all that stands between UT and Atlanta is the bottom three teams in the East.

2. Texas A&M- The Aggies hung around against Alabama Saturday but eventually went the way of all other Bama opponents. I still think this team is really good.

1.Alabama- Honestly, I’m running out of ways to explain how good Bama is. Another National Championship is in sight for Sabans’ boys.
