The Alabama Crimson Tide will host the Kentucky Wildcats in Week 5 of the 2015 football season.

No. 1 Alabama opened as a 32.5 point favorite vs. Kentucky.

This will be the first night game at Bryant-Denny Stadium this year, kick off is set for 7:00 Eastern / 6:00 Central and will be broadcast by ESPN.

Alabama seems to be rolling along like they usually are and showing no signs of stopping. They crushed over-matched Kent State in Week 4 by a final score of 48-0.

Kentucky got a big win of their own in Week 4, 17-10 over South Carolina. Mark Stoops is on the flaming red hot seat and that may have cooled the flames a bit. The Wildcats have now won back-to-back games and improved their record to 2-2.

It will be very hard for Kentucky to keep up in this game as the point spread would suggest. But Alabama will be looking to get any kinks out before a trip to Arkansas in Week 6.

Here are the SEC Standings after Week 4:

WEST:

  1. Texas A&M, 2-0
  2. Alabama, 1-0
  3. Auburn, 1-1
  4. Mississippi State, 1-1
  5. LSU, 1-1
  6. Ole Miss, 1-1
  7. Arkansas, 0-1

EAST:

  1. Tennessee, 1-0
  2. Florida, 1-1
  3. Georgia, 1-1
  4. Kentucky, 1-1
  5. South Carolina, 1-2
  6. Missouri, 0-1
  7. Vanderbilt, 0-1

Can Alabama win the SEC again? They’ve done it in 2014 and 2015 and then made the College Football Playoff both years. The Tide won the national title in 2015.

Nick Saban also won the SEC in 2009 and 2012. He didn’t win it in 2011, however, while still winning a national title (LSU won SEC, lost to Bama in BCS title game).

The Tide still have some tough games on the schedule with trips to Arkansas, Tennessee and LSU. Then home against against Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Auburn. Right now you have to circle the Tennessee and Texas A&M games as teams with the best chance to knock off Alabama.

But even if the Tide slip up, they’ll likely still win the West and the SEC, and wind up in the CFB Playoff once again.
