SEC Power Rankings: Week 4

With three weeks of the college football season in the books, let’s rank each SEC team.

The third week of the season had everything a fan could want. Ranked teams going head to head and several conference games made this a must see weekend. Six of the seven SEC west schools faced each other, while Georgia and Missouri matched up in the east.  We learned a little bit more about how tough this league is and who the real players will be as we enter the grind of 2016.

As always, these rankings are meant to reflect who I think are the best teams based on their play. You can always reference last week’s rankings and leave feedback on Twitter @jaldridgemandwn. Now to the rankings:

More from Mississippi State Bulldogs News

14. Kentucky: (1-2, last week: 13)- A win over the worst team in FBS, New Mexico St., isn’t impressing me very much.

13. Vanderbilt: (1-2, last week: 12)- A four touchdown loss to Georgia Tech and there’s very little sign of hope for the Dores.

12. Missouri: (1-2), last week: 14)- Mizzou gave Georgia everything they could handle Saturday. If not for their 3 picks we might’ve had an upset.

11. South Carolina: (2-1, last week: 11)- SC holds ground as the best of the bottom half of the SEC East, which isn’t saying much.

10. Mississippi State: (1-2, last week: 9)- will Mullen stick with the power running game that worked against LSU? Who knows. For now our Dawgs move down a spot.

9. Auburn: (1-2, last week: 10)- Auburn’s two losses came against A&M and Clemson both in decent games. They could surprise someone this year.

8. Georgia: (2-1, last week: 7)- UGA barely beat Mizzou Saturday so they move down one spot. Big game this week against Ole Miss.

7. Arkansas: (3-0, last week: 8)- UPig moves up one because of UGA’s near fall. But a great chance to prove themselves comes this week against A&M.

6. Florida: (3-0, last week: 6)- UF stays put for now with an easy W over North Texas. The loss of QB Luke Del Rio could be devastating for the Gators.

5. Tennessee:  (3-0, last week: 4)- The preseason world beaters have yet to look really impressive in 2016. Luckily for them, the schedule hasn’t gotten tough yet.

4. LSU: (2-1, last week: 5)- I’m not sure if Danny Etling is that good or Miss. St.’s pass D that bad but LSU has crazy talent all over the field. Oh and Leonard Fournette.

3. Texas A&M: (3-0, last week: 3)- I am a believer in this team. That defense will get a test this week against Arkansas’ run game.

2. Ole Miss: (1-2, last week: 2)- I know the record’s not good but the talent is. And the schedule has been tough. They better win this week against UGA if they want to stay at the top.

1. Alabama: (3-0, last week: 1)- Oh to have been a fly on the wall in the halftime locker room this past week. Whatever Saban said worked and Bama remains the team to beat.

There you have the rankings. Is it Saturday yet?
