Mississippi State Football Roundtable Predictions: Arkansas
How does the Maroon and White Nation team think Mississippi State football will fare in 2016?
The college football season is quickly approaching. The level of hope around the Mississippi State football program isn’t exactly at an all time high. The departure of several key players and, most importantly, the uncertainty at quarterback has MSU fans unsure how to feel entering 2016. Don’t worry Bulldog fans, the staff at M&WN is here to help. We are going to breakdown every game and tell you whether or not we believe MSU will win and why.
Mississippi State’s annual match up with Arkansas has provided some really exciting games over the past few years. Look no further than last season, where the Razorbacks had a very makeable field goal attempt blocked to seal the game for the Bulldogs. These close games are a direct product of Arkansas’ streaky play. It seems like every year they get hot in November and beat somebody they shouldn’t. Luckily, Mississippi State has avoid this fate and beaten Arky four straight years. Could 2016 be the year Arkansas ends the streak and beats MSU?

My Pick
I don’t expect Arkansas to be very good this year, honestly. Without Alex Collins or an experienced QB I think they take a step make a win maybe two conference games. The Bulldogs bounce back after a loss to Bama and get their ninth win of the season.
Josh Barnhill
. Win vs. Arkansas – this one is hard to pull the trigger on, honestly, because we’ve already beaten UPig four times in a row. I feel like we are doing something illegal and haven’t been caught. After all, we did lose to them every year from 1999-2007 and won only one game out of 13 until the current streak started. Oh well, we should be slightly better than the Hogs and the game is at home

Bret Bielema will finally get his Hogs rolling this season, and will not be in the cellar this season. Just like last year took a couple of years off Bulldog fans, I believe this year will do the same. We will limp out of Senior Night with a 1 point loss for the Bulldogs heading into the Egg Bowl at Oxford.
Dawg Smack
On a 2 game losing streak, having the Hogs at home will be a big plus for us. I think our defense will shut them down and our offense scores enough to get us that 7th win.
Another 3-1 split for the M&WN crew. It’s games like this that can make the difference between Mississippi State being a high end SEC team and being a cellar dweller. Here’s the predictions so far:
- Jared: 9-2
- Josh: 8-3
- Andrew: 8-3
- Dawg Smack: 7-4
