If you like eating food and watching sports sometimes your options can be limited at concession stands.

I love nachos. But I love to eat them with more than just chips, processed cheese and jalapenos. Give me some taco meat, sour cream, diced tomatoes, green onions, guacamole, hot sauce – I want the works!

If the run of the mill stadium nachos cost $5 I’m sure the nachos I make at home would cost $12-15, but they would leave my belly full and not needing another round of stadium nachos after the 3rd quarter.

I love food and being at games in person, but the options can be limited for sure. Maybe I didn’t get to tailgate before the game, maybe the game started right at mealtime. Whatever the situation may be, we need to get some better food available at Davis Wade Stadium. Here are my top 5 picks in no particular order….

More from Mississippi State Bulldogs News

1. Gyros – these things aren’t exactly American food but they are good. Take that pita bread with the vertical rotisserie meat and some Tzatziki sauce and you’ve got a recipe for a perfect handheld food while watching the game from section 306.

2. Chicken Wings – sports and chicken wings, we all know these two things go together like flowers and Mother’s Day. If it’s a day that ends in ‘Y’, then I could go for some chicken wings smothered in buffalo sauce and dipped in blue cheese dressing.

3. Cheesesteak – is there anyone who doesn’t like your favorite cheese melted over hot beef between two soft buns? Add in some onions, peppers, mayo and whatever else you please and this is a perfect sandwich for watching the game from the bleachers.

4. BBQ Nachos – as you might have guessed from the description above, I enjoy nachos. Well, BBQ nachos are probably even easier to make (so long as the pork shoulder has already been cooked) than taco meat nachos. I’ve seen Little League parks make them with all the fixin’s so I know we can at MSU.

5. Beer – it is legal to sell beer at college football games as Ohio State and West Virginia do it among others. The SEC won’t allow it, however, so it’s not even an option right now. It’s a controversial topic for sure, and not really something that bothers me to be without – but having one or two beers while at the game will enhance the game experience for some in the crowd. The amount of alcohol consumed on the Left Field Lounge rigs (that aren’t exactly up to code) without major incident should be evidence MSU fans can handle it. It’s coming most likely at some point as marketing departments try to keep stadiums filled with so many other options to watch the game available to fans.
