The Superbowl is just as much (if not more) about gathering together to eat delicious comfort food than watching the NFL deciding a champion….so here’s the key to having a great Superbowl experience:
Great dips.
Everyone has chicken wings, but do you have the right blue cheese dressing? Everyone has tortilla chips, but do you have the right thing to dip them in? A
good
great dip really takes the Superbowl party to another level. So, I’m going to give you my recipes for three great dips you’ll want to prepare for tonight.
Guacamole
I know, this one is easy. But I’ve seen too many people serve store-bought guacamole when you could save yourself about $5 and get something that tastes better by making you own.
- mash three avocados
- one teaspoon of garlic salt
Honestly, if these are the only ingredients you have you can stop here and have a good tasting guac…but go a little further and it will be a little better…
- dice 1/4 of a medium-sized sweet onion
- dice 1/4 of a medium-sized tomato
- one teaspoon of hot sauce (Texas Pete or similar)
Blue Cheese Dressing
You are probably having buffalo wings at you Superbowl party, so you need some blue cheese dressing. If you’re a wing connoisseur you know why – or, perhaps you don’t because a good blue cheese dressing is hard to come by. It really is, but I’ve found out how to make Buffalo’s Cafe’s version which is the best I’ve ever had.

- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of poppy seeds
- one tablespoon of Worcestershire
- 3 oz of blue cheese crumbles (typically sold in 4 oz containers)
Alabama White BBQ Sauce
This year we are having pulled pork at the Superbowl party….I smoked the boston butt yesterday so it’s ready to go. I’ve gotten to where I prefer to eat my BBQ without a bun, and just dip the pork in various sauces. One of them is Alabama White Sauce:
- one cup of mayonnaise
- two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
Enjoy the game!
