2015 Bulldog Bash Lineup Announced with Special Guest: YOUR CLANGA
So earlier today, the Mississippi State University Student Association announced the lineup for the 2015 Bulldog Bash on September 11 (LSU Weekend). The three-band set, along with the winner of the 2015 Battle of the Bands, will take the stage in the Cotton District the night of September 11. The bands on the stage will be X Ambassadors, who you may remember from one of the #HailState Highlight videos with the song titled “Jungle”, Misterwives who recently released the music video for their song “Our Own House”, and Local Natives who will bring their own style to the lineup.

My view on the lineup, it seems like we’re going to get a good mixture of band types in this year’s lineup and performances. It would be even better if we got a Battle of the Bands winner who was a different style from all three of the headliners. That would make for an enjoyable night before we face off against the LSU Tigers again as we go for two wins in a row against the Tigers.
The night before Bulldog Bash, September 10, the MSU Student Association will be holding Cowbell Yell in Davis Wade Stadium. This event has a special significance this year as we will be vying to break the Guinness World Record for most cowbells rang in unison. Now as you may remember, last year we at Maroon and White Nation publicized the idea of getting Guinness out here to record all of the cowbells at Davis Wade Stadium on a gameday.
While this is great that the athletic department is going to legitimately try to make this happen, why did they restrict it to Cowbell Yell when many fans won’t be able to make it? With the event happening late Thursday night, many fans who work or have children will not be able to make the event. That is just that many more people who could have participated in this record breaking event. If we wanted to make a huge impression on the Guinness World Records staff, then we should have made the attempt during the game. A time out is a HUGE opportunity to do that, especially if it was done right after a Mississippi State touchdown.
So a huge round of applause to the Mississippi State University Student Association, Athletic Department, and other administrative staff for finally listening to what the fans have been saying for years. While it’s great that they have finally decided to break this measly world record number, which currently stands at 1,021 cowbells rung simultaneously, the chance to do it at a Mississippi State football game rather than a pre-weekend festivity is a huge miss by the administration.
If you want another world record that we could try to break, the current Guinness World Record for largest cowbell is currently held by Hubert Venter of Kleinschmalkalden, Germany. His cowbell stood 3.28 meters, or 10′ 9″, and weighed 920 kg, or 2,028 lbs. So if you can make a cowbell larger than 10′ 9″ and 2,028 lbs by the weekend of September 11, then we could break TWO cowbell related World Records in one weekend. Now wouldn’t that be cool.
