Mississippi State baseball aims to even the series with Kentucky this afternoon
The Mississippi State baseball team is returning to action after a frustrating game one. Last night’s game didn’t go as the Bulldogs planned. And, as such, Mississippi State’s offense couldn’t keep up with Kentucky’s incredibly productive approach at the plate. The Bulldogs fell by a score of 9-6 last night.
And now, MSU’s back is against the wall. The Mississippi State baseball team absolutely needs a win today in order to remain in the series and stay in solid position for the upcoming Southeastern Conference Tournament.

Mississippi State baseball has a decent shot to win. Ethan Small is a solid pitcher and has arguably been the best of Mississippi State’s rotating starters for the Bulldogs this season. But, he’ll still need some solid run support. If Kentucky demonstrated anything last night, it’s that the Wildcats can score runs in bunches.

Right now, Mississippi State is still in contention for a spot in the SEC Tournament and can still earn a spot somewhere in the NCAA Tournament. But, losing today would hurt the Bulldogs’ chances for both of those tournaments. MSU needs as many wins as possible. And, of course, Mississippi State needs to do everything that it can to avoid being swept this weekend.
