Mike Bonner reported today why he has not been in attendance.
According to the report, Fred Brown has broken the Honor Code at Mississippi State. in doing so, he is not just dismissed from the football team, but he is also dismissed from the university as a student.
There is no indication on what he did to break the Honor Code. Most schools have one, and some take it so seriously, they have a ceremony in which students come and sign a pledge to keep the honor code. Mississippi State has an honor code as well and it says this.
"As a Mississippi State University student, I will conduct myself with honor and integrity at all times. I will not lie, cheat, or steal, nor will I accept the actions of those who do."
While we don’t know what part of the Honor Code Fred Brown broke, we will likely hear in the not too distant future. This will obviously impact the Mississippi State football team.
Brown had 27 receptions for 412 yards and three touchdowns and was third leading receiver in yards for the Mississippi State football team in 2015. His role was expected to increase with the departure of De’Runnya Wilson.

The problem the Bulldogs have had this spring has been the receiving corps has been hit with injuries. Fred Ross and Donald Gray are both out for the spring with injuries. As a result, Brandon Holloway has been playing mostly as a receiver.
With Brown’s dismissal, many assumed the plan was to keep Ross in the slot and have Fred Brown and Donald Gray on the outside. This might mean Ross moves back outside with Gray, and keep the slot open for players like Malik Dear and Gabe Myles, and it might mean a permanent move back to the slot for Brandon Holloway.

Fred Brown might not have been a huge contributor to the Mississippi State football team in 2015, but he was going to have a great opportunity to step up in 2016. It’s a disappointment for both Brown and the Bulldogs.
