Mississippi State softball aims to bounce back vs. Sacramento State in Puerto Vallarta Challenge
By Ethan Lee
After a less than stellar start to the 2013 Puerto Vallarta College Challenge for the Mississippi State softball team, the Bulldogs aim to bounce back against Sacramento State.
Vann Stuedeman and the Mississippi State softball team are down in Mexico for the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge and things could be going better for them. The Mississippi State Bulldogs are currently on a three-game losing streak and are sitting at 4-3 on the season so far.
This three-game losing skid started last weekend back in Starkville against Stephen F. Austin when the Mississippi State softball team fell 1-0 to close out the Bulldog Kickoff Classic. Now in Mexico, the Mississippi State Bulldogs have lost to Southern Illinois 4-1 and then No. 5 Washington 7-5.
It’s clear that Stuedeman and her team need an opportunity to bounce back. Sacramento State could provide just that chance.
The Sacramento State Hornets are far from being a dominant team. At 3-2 through their first five games of the season, Sacramento State has gotten its three wins by a combined score of 31-6. The Hornets have then fallen in their two losses by a combined score of 22-8.

This year, Sacramento State is a team that is used to blowing its opponents out and then also being blown out by its opponents.
It remains to be seen what will happen when the Mississippi State softball team faces off against Sacramento State. The Bulldogs certainly have the talent to get a much needed win, but this is still a much needed win for a reason.
MSU is struggling in the early part of this season. Right now, the Bulldogs are ranked as the 25th best team in the country, but they certainly haven’t been playing like it lately.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs will have a realistic chance at coming out on top of this game, but they’ll need to play significantly better than they have in their past few outings.
