Today, the Mississippi State football team has an opportunity to make history. Today, the 16th ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs get a chance to take down the No. 1 team in the country. This afternoon, MSU faces Alabama.
To take down the top ranked Crimson Tide, Mississippi State is going to need some miracles. Of course, for the Bulldogs to even keep up with Alabama, Mississippi State is probably going to need at least a few lucky breaks.
Nick Fitzgerald will have to play at a level that we haven’t seen him reach this season. He’s been playing better as of late, but he’ll have to reach a new level this afternoon. The Bulldogs’ defense will be challenged by the best offense in the country. Mississippi State has played well on that side of the ball all season, but the Bulldogs have never met a team as good on offense as Alabama.

The Mississippi State football team needs to find a way to make some magic happen. While a loss would be relatively inconsequential to the Bulldogs, a win would completely redefine this season.
Sure, it would be bittersweet given the couple of losses that the Bulldogs have, but a win against the best team in the country would provide Joe Moorhead with a monument that would help sell his “championship standard” to every Mississippi State football fan ever. A win would show some that Moorhead’s promises could be realistic in the future.
Of course, a win isn’t likely here. Alabama is the best team for a reason and this group in particular seems to be better than even most of Nick Saban’s previous national championship teams. The Bulldogs will need a miracle, or a dozen, today.
