The Mississippi State football season is rougher than it should have been. The Bulldogs just lost. But hey! It’s Mississippi State basketball season!

Look, in case you didn’t know, this Mississippi State football season has been rough. The Bulldogs are now 6-4 and loss in frustrating fashion to Alabama this afternoon. But look on the bright side! It’s time for Mississippi State basketball, everybody!

Both the men’s and the women’s Mississippi State basketball teams should be dominant this season. To start the year, the Bulldogs have certainly seemed that way so far. In the first three Mississippi State basketball games of 2018-2019, the Bulldogs got three blowout victories!

That’s great! It’s significantly more enjoyable than watching MSU struggle against Alabama on the gridiron.

I don’t say all of this to erase the 2018 Mississippi State football season. That’s not the goal here. The Bulldogs have locked up bowl eligibility and there’s still a couple more games up ahead for Joe Moorhead’s team.

We’re still going to talk about the games against Arkansas and then the Egg Bowl. Those are definitely two winnable games for MSU. The Bulldogs can, and should, win both of those games and end the regular season at 8-4.

If the Mississippi State football team can do that, it’ll end up in a respectable bowl. A win in a bowl game will help make this season seem fine.

Whatever.

Ultimately, we can move past how this year should have been better. It’ll be great if Joe Moorhead and his team can surprise everyone next season with an unexpectedly great 2019 campaign, but now is not the time to start thinking about that.

Now is the time to focus on how good these Mississippi State basketball teams are. There’s a good chance that the women’s team can win the SEC and make a deep run into the NCAA Tournament. The men’s team should be able to get back into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009.

The Mississippi State football season is winding down. It’s time to focus on the Mississippi State basketball season. It should provide all of us with more joy than the MSU football season has so far.
