Mississippi State basketball vs. Virginia 2018: watch, streaming link, stats
By Ethan Lee
Vic Schaefer is taking Teaira McCowan and the No. 6 Mississippi State basketball team to Charlottesville, Virginia to give the Bulldogs an early season road test against the Virginia Cavaliers.
After getting the season started with a solid win at home against Southeast Missouri State, Vic Schaefer and his Mississippi State basketball team are taking a quick road trip over into ACC country this evening. The Mississippi State Bulldogs are headed over to Charlottesville, Virginia to face the Cavaliers as they open up their season.
The Bulldogs had no issue handling SEMO on Tuesday and so this is the first true test of the 2018-2019 season for Schaefer’s team. The Virginia Cavaliers had a pretty good campaign during the 2017-2018 season and finished the year in the NCAA Tournament with a 19-14 record.
While the Cavaliers aren’t necessarily championship material right now, this will be a great opportunity for Schaefer and his Mississippi State basketball program to get some experience against a quality opponent on the road.

The newfound eligibility for Andra Espinoza-Hunter will make things interesting for the starting lineup. The former five-star recruit is truly a talented player who should see the floor quite a bit this season. There’s a great chance that she makes an impact on this team sooner rather than later.
It’s not clear how many minutes she’ll play or if she’ll actually crack the starting lineup this early in the season, but expect to see her name quite a bit as the season develops. The Bulldogs could certainly use her once SEC play starts.
