It’s game day: Mississippi State football vs LSU Tigers 2018
By Ethan Lee
The Mississippi State football team is set to play against the LSU Tigers down in Baton Rouge, Louisiana this evening.
Go ahead and start getting up, folks! It’s time for the seventh Mississippi State football game of the 2018 season. This evening, the No. 22 Bulldogs will face the No. 5 LSU Tigers down in Death Valley in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Mississippi State is coming off of a bye week in which the Bulldogs were able to rest up and the coaching staff hit the recruiting trail. MSU needed the bye week after the first half of the season didn’t necessarily go according to plan.
While many Mississippi State football fans were expecting the Bulldogs to be 5-1 or 6-0 by the time the bye week hit, the Bulldogs currently sit at 4-2. Losses to Kentucky and Florida were beyond frustrating for MSU fans.
However, it should be brought up that Mississippi State got a much needed win against then No. 8 Auburn. But, since then, Auburn has taken a nosedive and lost to the Tennessee Volunteers at home in an underwhelming way.

So, while that win looked fantastic at the time, it doesn’t look so good anymore. And even though many will point out that Auburn hasn’t looked that great at all at any point this season, this is still a team that took down Washington and only lost to LSU by one point. The Auburn Tigers were a good team at one point this season.
They just aren’t anymore. And it’s still not totally clear if they were a good team or if they had already fallen apart when they arrived in Starkville a couple of weeks ago.
Regardless, that win doesn’t hold the weight that it once did.
However, LSU has a win that is worth a lot right now. In all honesty, the Tigers have a few wins to hang their hats on, but it’s their most recent one that means the most. Last weekend, LSU destroyed the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs in impressive fashion.
It’s safe to say that the Mississippi State football team will be fighting an uphill battle this evening. Go ahead and start getting ready for it. It’s game day and we’re in the second half of the season!
