Mississippi State football versus Louisiana: How to watch and what to watch for
The Mississippi State football team returns to Davis Wade stadium with one more tune-up before SEC play starts in Week 4.
When the Mississippi State football team takes the field with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns (I still don’t think we need to drop the Lafayette from their name) tonight, it should be a cake walk for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs were 30.5 point favorites on Oddshark.com as I wrote this. Regardless, this is Mississippi State football, and you want to watch no matter who they play.
- Game Time: 6:30 p.m. Central Daylight Time
- Television: ESPN 2
- Streaming: Watch ESPN app and FUBO TV
- Radio: Check local listings or use the Mississippi State Radio Network on iTunes
ESPN 2 is a change in the broadcast. The broadcast was supposed to appear on the SEC Network Alternate channel, but due to a number of games being cancelled because of Hurricane Florence, the broadcast was moved to ESPN 2.
The Mississippi State football team cruised to a 31-10 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats during week 2. The Bulldogs dominated in almost every facet of the game. Tonight should be more of the same.
Here is what I’ll be looking for as the game plays out this morning.
Will Nick Fitzgerald improve?
Despite the fact the Mississippi State State football team has won their two games by a margin of 78 points, there are a lot of Bulldog fans fretting because the passing game has not been very sharp in the first two game. I tried to explain why that is earlier this week, but people still think the sky is falling. I expect Nick Fitzgerald to be better this game, so we’ll see if he actually is.
When will Keytaon Thompson enter the game?

This game should be well in hand by the time the second half rolls around. At some point, we’ll start looking for backups to enter the game, and Keytaon Thompson will be one of the most crucial players that needs to play. He needs to start getting as many reps whenever possible because he is the quarterback of the future. And if FItzgerald should get hurt again at some point again this year, he’ll need to be better prepared than he was in 2017 during the Egg Bowl.
Can the defense find new ways to impress us?
The Mississippi State football team’s defense was talked about during the entire offseason. They were praised in countless ways and they have lived up to the hype. Will they continue to impress us against an over matched opponent?
Will Kylin Hill and Nick Fitzgerald continue their ground dominance?
Kylin Hill had a statement game against Kansas State. He ran for 211 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns. Lost in Hill’s breakout performance was a performance that was nearly as dominant from Nick Fitzgerald who ran for over 150 yards himself. They’re a dynamic duo on the ground. With an offensive line dominant as it is, they should be able to have a repeat performance so long as the coaching staff doesn’t try to tinker with the passing game too much.
So that’s how you can watch the Mississippi State football team and some storylines. One more game to go until SEC play begins!
