What went well?

To be completely honest, just about everything was a positive for the Mississippi State football team last night. The Bulldogs did an incredible job in almost every aspect of the game against SFA last night.

One area where the Mississippi State football team truly seemed to excel and hasn’t in years past was through the air on deep passes. Last night against the Lumberjacks, it felt as if Keytaon Thompson completed more deep passes than any quarterback ever did in the entire Dan Mullen era.

Now, that’s not a true thing. There were plenty of great passes from Dak Prescott to De’Runnya Wilson and Fred Ross, but it feels as if the offense is truly taking a new approach in its efforts to throw downfield and bring out more explosive plays.

Last night, on only 13 completions, Keytaon Thompson threw for 364 yards and 5 touchdowns. In total, 12 different players caught passes. From running backs to tight ends, everyone got involved in the passing game. If MSU can find a way to complete a higher percentage of passes, then this offense will continue to become even more dangerous.
