What didn’t go so well?

Well, there’s honestly very little to complain about when your team wins 63-6 and it feels as if the scoring margin could have still been significantly wider than what it actually was. The Mississippi State football team performed at an incredibly and remarkably high level last night.

All that said, there were a couple of areas of concern.

First and foremost, the Bulldogs missed a field goal. Yes, it was only one field goal and it was raining on and off, but Mississippi State will need Jace Christmann to be more reliable than what he was in that brief moment last night. We saw Christmann be a safe bet last season, there’s no reason why he can’t improve to be one again this season.

Secondly, the Bulldogs did give up a few chunk plays through the air. No, Stephen F. Austin didn’t gain that many yards and I discussed all of that more here, but it’s still frustrating to see inferior offenses get explosive plays against a defense this good.
