Mississippi State baseball blew the game open with Elijah MacNamee’s home run

Mississippi State baseball needed a big hit against the Vanderbilt Commodores. In the month of May, Elijah MacNamee has certainly been the go to guy for home runs on this Bulldogs team. Right now, MSU is in the middle of game one of the Nashville Super Regional.

The game was close heading into the bottom of the 3rd, but it wasn’t after MacNamee’s at bat.

In fact, the game was actually tied going into the bottom of the 3rd inning. MSU took an early 2-0 lead over Vanderbilt, but the Bulldogs lost that lead. A slew of errors, poor throws, and mistakes from the Mississippi State baseball team allowed Vandy to tie things up in the top of the 3rd.

However, that tie wouldn’t last for very long.

Jake Mangum got the bottom of the 3rd going by drawing a walk on five pitches. Rowdey Jordan singled, putting two runners on. Then, a wild pitched moved both runners into scoring position. Tanner Allen’s single then brought Mangum home and put MSU up 3-2. Another single from Hunter Stovall extended the lead to 4-2.

And then Elijah MacNamee blew things wide open with this home run.

The Mississippi State baseball team’s lead ballooned out to 7-2 thanks to that three-run home run from Elijah MacNamee.

At the moment, the MSU Bulldogs are wrestling with Vandy. This is still a game that could go either way given how these two teams have been scoring this postseason. The Mississippi State baseball team must be careful and do everything it possible can to hold on to this lead.
