Will Nick Fitzgerald, Jeffery Simmons, And Montez Sweat All Be First Round Picks After This Year?

Just a few weeks back after the most recent NFL Draft, Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller predicted that the Mississippi State football team would produce three first round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft. Miller stated that he believed that Nick Fitzgerald, Jeffery Simmons, and Montez Sweat would all be drafted in the first round next year.

He had Jeffery Simmons getting picked up by the Atlanta Falcons with the 21st pick, Nick Fitzgerald getting selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 22nd pick, and then Montez Sweat chosen by the San Francisco 49ers with the 29th pick.

That’d be an incredible accomplishment for the Mississippi State Bulldogs to pull off if they could actually do it.

But, well, can they actually do it?

All three of these players would have to perform at a high level in 2018 to show that they are worth picking in these spots. Jeffery Simmons and Montez Sweat have more than shown their full potential. Nick Fitzgerald is still a bit rough when it comes to passing.

If these three improve and impress this year, this might be something that actually happens.
