Between landing a defensive lineman out of Miami, a pitcher, and having three ESPYS nominations announced, it has been a busy two days for Mississippi State athletics. Here are the latest notes and links from June 21st and June 22nd!

  • Dak Prescott has been nominated for the ESPY award “Best Breakthrough Athlete” after his legendary rookie campaign.

– Miami DE Aaron Morgan talks Mississippi State decision – Paul Jones, Bulldawgs247

Yesterday, Mississippi State landed their 11th commitment of the 2018 recruiting class. Paul Jones caught up with Morgan to discuss his decision to commit to the Bulldogs.

"“That was a great day and I had all of their coaches around me,” said Morgan. “I felt like they are the right coaching staff for me and I felt comfortable with them at the FIU camp. I started the day running a 4.6 forty and after that, they stayed with me the rest of the camp. Coach Baker was telling me how good of a job I did and Coach (Todd) Grantham liked my work ethic and he was talking about leadership, too.“I think Coach Baker is an excellent coach and it’s been pretty good with Coach (Terrell) Buckley, too. He is an excellent coach, too, and we have a good relationship.”Morgan has yet to visit the Bulldogs’ campus but plans to make the trip to Starkville before his senior school year begins at Carol City High School."

The ESPYs have announced every category and all of the finalists for each award next month. Dak, Morgan William, and the women’s hoops squad are all up for an ESPY.

"SportsNation revealed the different categories and candidates for each award that will be handed out in July’s ESPYS show. Mississippi State athletics has the chance to bring home two awards. The best player in Mississippi State football history, Dak Prescott, and the incredible women’s basketball team are both up for an ESPY.Morgan William’s shot is also up for “Best Play”. – Bovada Odds: Dak Prescott is a top 4 NFL MVP candidate for 2017 – Cole Patterson, Maroon and White Nation

Bovada released their odds for the next NFL MVP today. The Mississippi State legend has the fourth best odds in the entire league to take home the prestigious honor.

"The Las Vegas online betting site released their odds on who will be crowned the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for the upcoming NFL season. Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Derek Carr top the list. A former Mississippi State Bulldog has the fourth best odds of anyone to win the award.Brady’s odds stand 4/1, Rodgers 7/1, and Carr 9/1. Dak is tied with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and Seahawks signal caller Russell Wilson at 12/1 odds."

– Fitzgerald Heads To Manning Camp, Talks Summer Workouts – Bob Carskadon, Hail State Beat

Before Fitz looks to lead the Bulldogs to big things in 2017, the talented Mississippi State signal caller will participate in the Manning Camp. Bob does an amazing job of writing on Fitz heading to one of the most prestigious quarterback camps around.

"“Hey, Nick,” the message began. “This is Archie Manning.”“I almost dropped my phone,” Fitzgerald recalled. “I was like, what? My buddies looked at me like I was crazy. I was like, y’all don’t understand. So I put it on speaker and set it on the table.Everyone’s jaw just dropped.”Naturally, the patriarch of the family was calling to invite Fitzgerald to the annual Manning Passing Academy, a summer football camp put on by the Manning family in which the best quarterbacks in college football are invited to serve as counselors. Fitzgerald arrives in Louisiana today to join Archie, Peyton, Eli and all the elite college quarterbacks from across the country.Following his predecessors Dak Prescott and Tyler Russell, Fitzgerald is just the third MSU passer to be invited to the camp, and he plans to use the time to learn as much as he can from the Mannings, keeping his eyes and ears open for any nuggets of knowledge or helpful hints he can glean from the famous quarterbacks."
