It was a rough weekend for Mississippi State this weekend in Athens. The bulldogs entered the weekend ranked 6th in the Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball polls, and 9th in the USA Today Coaches poll. In game one of the series against Georgia, Mississippi State ran away with a 9-3 victory, but could only muster a total of two runs in games two and three.

The Bulldogs also fell from 13th to 24th in the RPI rankings following dropping two of three to Georgia. Despite a lackluster weekend in Athens, Mississippi State is still considered to be one of the ten best teams in college baseball by both D1 Baseball and Collegiate Baseball.
