Lets look at the power rankings for all fourteen SEC schools headed into the fifth week of the college football season.

Week four was certainly interesting in SEC land. Ten of the fourteen teams played a conference game last week. Three of those games featured a matchup of two ranked teams. LSU and Auburn battled it out in a matchup of coaches on the hot seat and South Carolina and Kentucky fought to stay out of the SEC East cellar. As the middle of the SEC grind approaches every game seems to have major implications.

With all these conference games let’s look at who’s climbing and who’s dropping in our SEC power rankings.

14. Vanderbilt: (2-2, last week: 13)- Beating Western Kentucky by a point in overtime isn’t good for the resume.

13. Kentucky: (2-2, last week: 14)-  The Wildcats won a conference game this week by beating South Carolina. Speaking of SC…

12. South Carolina: (2-2, last week: 11)- Playing SC seems to be the cure for your team’s season headed south. See UK last week or MSU two weeks ago.

11. Missouri: (2-2, last week: 12)- Mizzou seems to be playing the best of this group right now, which isn’t saying much.

10. Mississippi State: (2-2, last week: 10)- Our Bulldogs didn’t do enough against Umass to justify any movement this week.

9. Auburn: (2-2, last week: 9)- Bad clock management by Les Miles helped Auburn get a win this week. Not very impressive though.

8. Georgia: ( 3-1, last week: 8)- UGA got demolished by Ole Miss in week 4 and seems to be reeling the past few weeks.

7. LSU: (2-2, last week: 4)- just when I thought the Tigers had it figured out they blow a game against Auburn and fire Les Miles. I see hard times ahead in the bayou.

6. Florida: (3-1, last week: 6)- I feel like UF is a good team but they have struggled to put together a complete good game this year. A second half collapse at Tennessee may have cost them a shot at the east.

5. Arkansas: (3-1, last week: 7)- I know jumping 2 spots in  lose is rare but I believe in this team. IF they get better late in the year again, UPig can compete in the west.

4. Tennessee: (4-0, last week: 5)- UT controls their own destiny in the SEC east but they are still struggling to compete for an entire game.

3. Texas A&M: (4-0, last week: 3)- The Aggies are the most likely team to challenge Bama in the West. They finally play defense and Trevor Knight is a difference maker.

2. Ole Miss: (2-2, last week: 2)- If not for 2 blown leads this is the number one team in the nation. They have great talent but may already be out of SEC West contention.

1. Alabam: (4-0, last week: 1)- I don’t know what else to say about Bama. They are holding down the top spot until somebody beats them.

There they are. The SEC power rankings heading into week 5. Is it Saturday yet?
