While it won’t be fun to pull for the Ole Miss baseball team this weekend, if Mississippi State baseball fans want an SEC championship, they’ll have to.

Before I start this debate, let me simply ask a question. Do you want the Mississippi State baseball team to win the SEC Championship?

More bulldogs: Mississippi State Bulldogs Take Over the SEC Network

If the answer is yes, then there should be nothing else to discuss. When the Texas A&M Aggies take on Ole Miss, the Diamond Dawgs need to win one more game than the Aggies. And the only way that can happen is for the Ole Miss Rebels to win at least one, and possibly more, against Texas A&M.

Despite this, there are some Mississippi State baseball fans who will refuse to do so. I will never understand those people.

I ran this poll on Twitter on Sunday. As you can see, the number of people who will want Ole Miss to win is about a 2-1 margin.

But still, there are around 100 people who voted in that poll that still don’t want Ole Miss to win, despite the fact an Ole Miss win or two might mean the Bulldogs could win the SEC Championship. This brings up an age old argument for Bulldog fans. Do you love Mississippi State more than you hate Ole Miss?

For me, this question is easy. I love Mississippi State more. I will be ecstatic if the Mississippi State baseball team can sweep or win at least two games against Arkansas and then Ole Miss hangs at least one or two losses on the Aggies.

But some won’t be. Some will be disappointed Ole Miss won, and as a result, disappointed we won the West or possible overall SEC Championship.

I have never said anything negative about our readers. But if you fall into that category, I have a very important message for you.

You’re being dumb. Really dumb. Stop it.

And I won’t apologize for saying it. If you’re a Mississippi State baseball fan, why would your desire for bad things happening to Ole Miss trump your desire for good things for the Bulldogs? It simply shouldn’t.

You don’t have to do anything drastic. Don’t start saying Hotty Toddy. Don’t even actively cheer for them. Just know that if the Mississippi State baseball team wins and Ole Miss wins, then there were two results beneficial for the Bulldogs and be appreciative of that fact.

It’ll be okay. It won’t kill you. When Ole Miss can make it where the Bulldogs can win the SEC, then it’s time to be happy if they win.
