The Mississippi State baseball team had an epic comeback against Ole Miss in 2013 many believe propelled the team’s run to Omaha in 2013.
The 2013 Mississippi State baseball team will be one most fans will remember for years. It is the only team the school has ever had play for a national title.
More bulldogs: Chad Girodo's remarkable rise to the big leagues
One of the most memorable games from the season came on Mother’s Day. The Bulldogs had accumulated some momentum heading into the series with Ole Miss. After getting off to a 3-6 start in SEC play, the Bulldogs had rallied to win 10 of their next 15 games.
But the series against Ole Miss got off to a terrible start. The Friday night game was rained out, and Ole Miss took the first two games of the series in a double header. The Mississippi State baseball team was reeling once again.
The third game looked to be further trouble for the Bulldogs. Ole Miss scored three runs in the first inning off Jacob Lindgren, and a two out error in the second allowed three unearned runs to score off of Jonathan Holder.

After a scoreless inning from Chad Girodo, Ben Bracewell would take over on the mound. He pitched a gem over the last five innings and gave up just one hit, and allowed the Bulldogs to get back in the game.
When the 5th inning began, the Bulldogs trailed 6-0. The Mississippi State baseball team just worked the Ole Miss pitching staff in the 5th with singles and stolen bases. A two RBI double by Adam Frazier would be the biggest blow, and pulled the Bulldogs within two. An Alex Detz sacrifice would score the final run of the inning, and pulled Mississippi State within one at 6-5.
The Mississippi State baseball team would load the bases the next inning, and with two outs, Adam Frazier came up big again. His two out, two RBI single gave the Bulldogs the lead, and with Bracewell locking the Rebels down, Mississippi State would go on to win one of the most remarkable games of the year.

This year, the Mississippi State baseball team is probably more talented than the 2013 team. But what the 2013 team lacked in talent, they often made up in heart and toughness. If the 2016 team wants to replicate the success of the 2013 squad, it will take more than just talent to do so.
