With Spring Practice in full swing, I make my annual SEC predictions for the upcoming 2016 football season.

The Alabama football team lost a game early in the season in 2015 and everyone predicted their imminent demise just like every year. They then won the SEC West and National Championship, which doesn’t happen every year, it just seems that way. Will it be the same old thing for the Crimson Tide in 2016?

To answer my own question, yes. Yes it will

I’ve come up with a new rule for predicting season standings here on our blog. Until the Alabama football team has a coach named someone other than Nick Saban, I’m not picking them to finish anywhere but 1st.

More from Maroon and White Nation

At some point, Nick Saban is going to have the game pass him by. At some point, he won’t be able to put out the best dang football team in the country every single season despite the losses they experience from season to season.

But until I see it with my own eyes, I won’t believe it.

I know it is boring to pick the Alabama football team to win the SEC West. They are almost everyone’s favorite year in and year out. But there is a reason for it. Nick Saban has the Crimson Tide rolling just like Bear Bryant did back in his time when the Bear was a legend. And until Saban moves on to something else in life, you can expect more of the same year in and year out in the SEC West.
