With Spring Practice in full swing, I make my annual SEC predictions for the upcoming 2016 football season.

The Tennessee football team was probably the best team in the SEC East in 2015, but thanks to a few epic collapses late in the game last season, the Vols were not able to play in Atlanta last season. Will their fortunes change in 2016?

Overall 5-7, SEC 2-6

The East is there for the taking for the Tennessee football team in 2016. The team is returning a large number of players from a team that finished the 2016 strong.

The Tennessee football team will be the favorite to win the East by many in 2016. But it doesn’t mean there won’t be opportunities for disappointment.

More from Maroon and White Nation

Tennessee has never had much success against Florida. With the state the Gators should be in offensively, I think the Tennessee football coaches figure out a way to get over that hump in 2016.

Also, the game against Georgia is in Athens, so it is anything but guaranteed.Heading to Texas A&M could also be tricky if the Vols are undefeated in that game and looking forward to what would be a monstrous game between the Vols and Tide like we haven’t seen since the 1990s.

But Tennessee will be the favorite and for good reason. There isn’t a team in the SEC East more prepared to win the division than the Tennessee football team. Anything less than a trip to Atlanta will be considered a disappointment. And with everything swirling around the program off the field, the last thing Tennessee football fans want is a disappointment on the field.
