Today is Back to the Future Day. If you aren’t sure what I am talking about, in the movie Back to the Furture Part 2, Doc Brown and Marty McFly along with Marty’s girlfriend Jennifer, took the DeLorean to October 21, 2015. They fixed the lives of their kids and straightened out their own as well in the process.

My fellow co-editor here at Maroon And White Nation Josh Barnhill took us to the past earlier today. He gave us the top ten football games he wish he could go back and make one change to. For this piece, we go to the future.

For the first time since the start of the 2011-2012 basketball season, Mississippi State fans are excited about Men’s Basketball. Coach Rick Ray was relieved of his duties at the end of the 2015 season, and former UCLA and Pitt head coach Ben Howland was brought to Starkville.

Howland immediately made an impact on the recruiting trail for the Bulldogs. After only having been on the job for a month, Howland was able to turn a recruiting long shot in a surprising reality. Malik Newman, one of the best prospects to play in the state of Mississippi, committed and signed with Mississippi State.

Obviously, predicting 5 years into the future is difficult for a college program. The players we are currently recruiting will be finishing their Mississippi State careers right about then. Nevertheless, it’s certainly worth a shot. So let’s hop in the DeLorean and head to five years in the future. Just don’t let your future self see you. Don’t want to mess up the space time continuum.
