Derek Sherrod was an outstanding offensive lineman for Mississippi State. He was so productive, Sherrod was drafted at the end of the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers.
But things haven’t gone as well as Sherrod would like.
As is often the case in football, if you can’t stay healthy, you normally can’t perform. And Derek Sherrod suffered a devastating break to his lower leg in his rookie season. His performance hasn’t been the same since.
The injury cost him two years of his career, and the once projected full time starter only started one game for the Green Bay Packers. The potential is still there, and that potential has landed Sherrod a spot on the Kansas City Chiefs’ roster. A lot of people didn’t expect Derek Sherrod to make the roster, but the most recent depth chart has Sherrod listed as the backup tackle. He has even gotten a few reps with the first team.
Maybe things are finally starting to look up for Sherrod.
