Mississippi State Baseball Forecast: Last Non-Con Weekend

Well the last time I wrote you a forecast, we ended up losing to a SWAC team. But we will just glaze over that game, but if you want to relive it then you can read Wesley’s recap article. But now we move on to our last non-conference weekend series of the year, as we face off against San Diego. San Diego is a deceptively good team, when you only look at the record. They swept a Top-15 foe in Texas last weekend, and showed no signs of this being a fluke. Their pitching staff is great, and the bats can be a serious threat.

That’s where the weather will come into play. Everything is, in some way or another, affected and determined by the weather. Pitchers durability, hitting strength, and ball speed and trajectory are all factors that are affected by the weather. This weekend will be no different, but it may be more of a help to the teams than a hindrance, this time. This three-game series will be important in the post-season hopes of this Bulldog squad. After a devastating loss to the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the Bulldogs need to sweep all of their non-conference games in order to effectively cancel out that loss, RPI-wise.
