A Year of Arrests, Law Suits and Shame for Ole Miss
The 2013 recruiting class for Ole Miss was supposed to bring the glory days back to Oxford. While all the attention from their top 5 class brought questions of cheating, nothing has been proven to be out of the ordinary. It was just a great haul by Hugh Freeze. But since that historic NSD on February 6, 2013 it’s been an interesting year for our rivals up in Oxford…
February 17, 2013 – Denzel Nkemdiche and other unnamed football players get into a fight at the Ole Miss KA house, allegedly knocking two guys out. It started over racial tension. This comes just three months after riots ensued on the Ole Miss campus from President Obama being re-elected.
May 10, 2013 – Barry Brunetti arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Former OM quarterback Randall Mackey was also arrested for assault.
October 2, 2013 – Ole Miss football players shout gay slurs at theater production of “Laramie Project”.
October 12, 2013 – Hugh Freeze gets into a verbal altercation with a fan after the Texas A&M loss.
December 20, 2013 – Ole Miss DL coach Chris Kiffin goes on twitter rampage against MSU: Volume 1, Volume 2.
January 19 – Channing Ward is arrested for DUI, and pleads guilty on February 13th.
January 29 – It was reported that freshman cornerback Bobby Hill was arrested and charged with sexual battery.
February 4 – Ole Miss message board posters claim some of their football players have sold them marijuana.
Febraury 5 – Dacorius Law puts on a Utah hat for National Signing Day, signs with Utah, but the rumor is his mother sends a signed LOI to Ole Miss and Freeze tries to hold him to it, even though he want to go to Utah. Freeze relents and Law ends up sticking with Utah.
February 15 – (rumor): a woman was arrested for allegedly running a prostitution ring in Oxford.
February 16 – Serderius Bryant and Denzel Nkemdiche are arrested for disorderly conduct during Nkemdiche’s 21st birthday celebration.
February 17 – Someone puts a hangman’s noose on the James Meredith statue on Ole Miss’ campus (during Black History Month) draped with a pre-2003 Georgia state flag (features confederate emblem) and yelled racial slurs as they defaced the statue.
February 18 – Denzel and Robert Nkemdiche along with five other Ole Miss football players being sued from $2 million from incident on 2/17/13 at KA house.
This is a staggering number of incidents taking place over the course of a year. Could there be more on the way? We’ve given you the rumors of Deadspin releasing evidence of a massive cheating scandal on Friday. Could it be true? Here are some additional e-mails the “whistle-blower” has sent to M&WN…

"It has begun. The prostitution ring, the recent arrests, all have one common thread that will be revealed Friday. Expect a big week. Oxford is about to burn. I’m about to make a believer out of you."

"You’re probably wondering right about now whether all of this happening this week is just one giant coincidence. But be patient, it’s about to get better."
