SEC Football Rivalry Week predictions

Rivalry week in the SEC is always special, and this there are some huge implications for several games. Here's how we see those games playing out...

15 South Carolina at 12 Clemson

Chase: South Carolina can create a funny situation for the sport this weekend if they defeat their rival. South Carolina is playing great as of late. Clemson has hung on each week. I see a problem with that, especially as they host a dangerous Shane Beamer team. South Carolina wins

Reed: The Gamecocks have been up and down, but they have an elite pass rush which will cause chaos all game. South Carolina wins

Andrew: I don’t feel great about this, but I’m taking Clemson. Mostly, I’m doing this to fight back against the narrative that any non-SEC team that’s a fringe playoff contender has no business being there, and I’m also willing a Clemson win into existence to help keep those 3-loss SEC teams out of the playoff. Clemson wins

Auburn at 13 Alabama

Chase: Alabama's season is on the line this weekend as their backs are up against the wall. Their chances of playing for an SEC championship are gone, but a chance for a playoff spot isn’t. Auburn found something on offense last week, but to replicate that against Alabama is not likely. Alabama wins

Reed: The Tide will win strictly because it’s in Tuscaloosa. They have more talent which will also determine the game, but Auburn has struggled in Tuscaloosa only winning once since 2008. Alabama wins

Andrew: If this weren’t in Tuscaloosa, I’d be all over an Auburn win. But it’s in T-Town where Bama has been better this year and Auburn hasn’t had much success at. Alabama wins

Arkansas at 21 Missouri

Chase: Missouri understands how dangerous Arkansas is with the season coming to an end. Texas almost fell into Arkansas’s trap, but they prevailed. I expect Missouri to do the same behind Brady Cook and Luther Burden III. Missouri wins

Reed: The Tigers will look to play their best game as they attempt to win with style points as they make a final push towards getting into the playoffs if rivalry weekend has the chaos we all expect. Missouri wins

Andrew: I would’ve easily said Arkansas were winning this game a few weeks back, but I feel better about the Tigers at this point. The Hogs are bowling, but they’re fading down the stretch. Missouri wins

Oklahoma at LSU

Chase: Oklahoma pulled off an upset win last week against the Crimson Tide. Oklahoma’s defense is legit; ask Jalen Milroe and Ryan Williams. I don’t trust LSU right now, as they are hanging on a thread. Brian Kelly’s famous confused look will appear on the screen once again. Oklahoma wins

Reed: LSU will stumble to 8 wins partly due to the fact that OU gave their all versus Bama, and they will come back down to Earth in Tiger Stadium. LSU wins

Andrew: I think the fact that OU just got the emotional win out of the way by upsetting a SEC blueblood and becoming bowl-eligible is a good thing for LSU. I could see a letdown performance in Death Valley by the Sooners, and LSU handling Vandy suggests they haven’t totally quit. LSU wins

3 Texas at 20 Texas A&M

Chase: Texas A&M is the dog house for me as they squandered a win against Auburn. A bounce back game will not be enough to keep up with the Longhorns. It will be a classic rivalry renewed for more memories to be made. Texas wins

Reed: The Aggies have been looking forward to this game since Texas announced they were joining the SEC. They appeared to have overlooked Auburn preparing for this, and Elko will pull out all stops to win. They also have the defensive line to make life difficult for Texas. Texas A&M wins

Andrew: Kyle Field will be an absolute madhouse. I’d been saying that the most A&M thing would be losing to Auburn for the third loss before beating Texas, and we now could see that. But what would really be the most A&M thing would be to, after years of not playing this game while Texas was terrible, getting the game back in College Station with massive stakes only to do what they know best - lose to Texas. Texas wins
