Mississippi State Bulldogs guard Josh Hubbard wins Howell Trophy for second-consecutive season
For the second-straight season, Josh Hubbard is the best men's basketball player in the state of Mississippi. The sophomore guard out of Madison took home the Howell Trophy after leading Mississippi State with 18.3 points per game in route to a third-consecutive 20-win season. Hubbard becomes the third Bulldog to win the award multiple years, and this is the 12th time the award has gone to a Bulldog, most of any program in Mississippi.
Josh Hubbard and Cameron Matthews earn All-SEC honors
Along with winning the Howell Trophy, Josh Hubbard earned more honors when he was named 2nd Team All-SEC for the second-consecutive season. He joins Eric Dampier as the only Bulldogs to earn All-SEC honors as both a freshman and a sophomore.
Also earning All-SEC honors was senior forward Cameron Matthews. The do-it-all leader of the Bulldogs was named to the All-SEC Defensive Team for the second-straight year. Former Bulldog Jarvis Varnado is the only other MSU player with multiple years on the league's Defensive Team.

Mississippi State softball opens SEC play with sweep of No. 17 Auburn
Bulldog softball has continued its stellar start to the 2025 season into conference play. After rolling through the non-conference slate with just three losses and multiple quality wins, No. 22 State welcomed No. 17 Auburn to Starkville for their first SEC series. The Bulldogs took all three games from the Tigers behind a big weekend at the plate, putting up 21 runs in the series. MSU is now 22-3 on the season.
Mississippi State baseball picks up another weekend sweep against Queens
The Diamond Dawgs played their final weekend non-conference series of the 2025 season, and it went exactly to play. State swept Queens with strong offensive performances, most notably from Aaron Downs who had consecutive games with two home runs, and saw more consistency out of it's starting pitching. MSU now heads down to Biloxi for the Hancock Whitney Classic where they'll face Old Dominion and Nicholls in the midweek before returning to Starkville for their SEC opener against Texas.
