College football schedule, week 6: Marshall at NC State

1:00 PM CT on CW Network

We’re going right back to the CW-well after last week’s Virginia-Boston College paid off for these selections. This game that may be hidden in plain site by kicking off at a weird time on an obscure network, but make no mistake. This could be a really fun battle.

Marshall sits at 4-0 and is a contender for the Sun Belt crown. Charles Huff, who served as Mississippi State’s RBs coach in 2018, has done a nice job of keeping the Thundering Herd a strong G5 program after taking over for the legendary Doc Holliday. The Herd field a strong defense that creates tons of havoc up front, and RB Rasheen Ali is tied for the nation’s lead with nine rushing TDs.

NC State is 3-2 has played in some weird games so far. They could never fully pull away from UConn, were ridiculously lucky to survive against Virginia, and played a super ugly game with Louisville. The Wolfpack offense hasn’t taken off the way many fans envisioned with Brennan Armstrong at QB, and as a result, Armstrong is now being benched in favor of sophomore MJ Morris. Morris saw starting action as a true freshman a year ago and played really well.

NC State has a tendency to play close games, and ACC teams in general have a tendency to have a tough time handling business against regional G5 teams. Marshall already took down Virginia Tech earlier this year. I expect a competitive game.
