Miss. State Bulldogs vs. LSU Tigers

The LSU Tigers are a year removed from winning the SEC West en route to a 10-win season. Historically, LSU has had the Bulldogs’ number outside of a couple of decades in the middle of last century.

While MSU has won about a third of the matchups since 2014, most fans, pundits, and prognosticators mark this game down as an L for the Bulldogs every year.

In other words, expectations stay low for this game.

If you want reasons for this game to remain status quo, keep in mind the offensive struggles for the Bulldog offense a week ago. While Arizona had some transfers along the defensive front, no one expects them to be nearly as good as LSU is year-in and year-out. This game could get ugly if MSU’s offense doesn’t get off the ground.

While the Bulldog defense did look pretty good a week ago, especially in the turnover department, there are some question marks in regard to how well we can handle mobile quarterbacks. Jayden  de Laura did have some moments where he shined for Arizona.

LSU’s Jayden Daniels could stand out if the Bulldogs can’t keep him in check — in week one the quarterback led the Tigers offense in rushing yards (64) and attempts (15), and, like de Laura, he showed he can wow with the big passing plays.

This game has a chance to get ugly.

If the LSU team from the first half of their game vs Florida State shows up against a Mississippi State football team giving similar output to what was shown against Arizona, then this game will be over by halftime.
