Mississippi State football: Will Rogers, Bulldogs seek more success vs. Texas A&M Aggies
By Ethan Lee
Heading into another season of leading the Mississippi State football team, quarterback Will Rogers is seeking more success vs. the Texas A&M Aggies.
As he gets set for another season of leading the Mississippi State football team, Will Rogers has another shot at guiding the Bulldogs to getting another win against the Texas A&M Aggies. And it’d be nice to MSU set themselves up with a three-game winning streak against a team that they’ve beaten regularly in recent years.
During SEC Media Days, Rogers was presented with the opportunity to chat about MSU’s recent matchups with the Aggies and how the Bulldogs have come out on top.
“I think it’s honestly just a whole, collective, team effort group the past couple years. In ’21 we played really well, and last year we played well as well. Got to run the ball a little bit more on those guys last year with Coach Durkin’s design in his defense,” Rogers explained, according to ASAP Sports.
Of course, it’s worth noting that Rogers was complimentary of the Aggies and Kyle Field.
“First of all, I want to say that’s my favorite place to play besides Starkville. Kyle Field is number two on my list.”
Mississippi State football: Will Rogers compliments Texas A&M Aggies
Kyle Field is a pretty unique place to play and Rogers has had some fun there in his previous trip to College Station. In 2021, Rogers completed 46 of his 59 pass attempts for 408 yards and three touchdowns.
Last season, in Starkville, Rogers threw for 329 yards and three more touchdowns.
So, with one more trip to Kyle Field ahead of him, Rogers has a chance to extend the Bulldogs’ winning streak over the Aggies to three games (just as Nick Fitzgerald did). Given that both teams are firmly entrenched in the middle class of the SEC, it’d be great to see the Bulldogs continue to put themselves about the Aggies with another win.
And it’d be a pretty nice tribute to Mike Leach, who had all sorts of fun when discussing Texas A&M football and had plenty of success in Kyle Field.
