Mississippi State football: 3 Bulldogs primed for breakthrough in 2023
No. 1: Mississippi State football wide receiver Lideatrick “Tulu” Griffin:
“Tulu” is returning for the Bulldogs as quite possibly the most electric player on the field. His acceleration and speed skills are some of the best in the nation.
A newfound offensive rushing attack with the possibility of play action passes, jet sweeps and more formations that put Griffin in the slot receiver position offer huge potential for the Bulldogs offense. Griffin will also have Zavion Thomas as his partner on kickoff and punt returns, giving Mississippi State an almost unfair advantage of being able to switch field position within the blink of an eye.
Tulu scored 4 touchdowns in 2022. That number I expect will double in 2023. He brought in 40 receptions with 502 yards for the Bulldogs in 2022, and I also expect those numbers to increase as well.
Griffin’s ability to race past defensive backs for big gains in the passing game matched with his ability to break tackles and make larger defenders look silly attempting to slow him down, Tulu’s breakout year could be one for the record books at Mississippi State.
All 3 of these offensive players have major opportunities to have individual breakout years for Mississippi State. If all 3 have breakout years in the 2023 campaign, the Bulldogs’ offense will be one to keep an eye out for on the national scale.
