Mississippi State football: 3 Bulldogs primed for breakthrough in 2023
2023 has a chance to be a special year for the Dawgs on the Gridiron. These three players can help foster that season with breakthrough years.
The Mississippi State football team is returning a plethora of key players for the 2023 season. They are also receiving a lot of talent and potential through the transfer portal. A lot of these players will play major roles in the Bulldogs’ offense, led by new offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay.
Names like Zavion Thomas, Jaden Walley and Justin Robinson come to mind. Transfers like Penn State running back Keyvone Lee and TCU tight end Geor’Quarious Spivey are huge additions to the potential firepower of this offensive attack.
The defense is also returning several “X-factor” type players, including defensive back Decamerion Richardson and Mississippi State’s leading tackler in 2022 Nathaniel “Bookie” Watson. Linebacker Jett Johnson and Shawn Preston Jr. are also returning and expected to have major roles on former defensive coordinator now head coach Zach Arnett’s roster.
I guarantee that you will be hearing these names and many more over the speakers in Davis Wade Stadium or on your televisions at home. These players have the potential to have notable performances and should get plenty of attention all throughout the upcoming Mississippi State football season.
And it should be noted that these aforementioned athletes likely have notable impacts on how the Bulldogs will perform during Arnett’s first full season leading things in Starkville.
That said, there are three specific players that I believe can make the biggest impact on the win-loss record for the Bulldogs if they each have a season for the record books. Here are the top three Bulldogs that I believe will have breakthrough seasons.
