No. 2: Mississippi State football vs. LSU Tigers

Well, the past two meetings with the LSU Tigers have been utterly infuriating for completely different reasons. The Mississippi State Bulldogs have squandered opportunities and made mistakes and now they’re facing an LSU team that is solidly good once again.

That’s great.

The Tigers are coming off of a season in which they won the SEC West, lost by double digits to the dysfunctional Texas A&M Aggies, beat Alabama in overtime, and barely escaped the likes of Auburn and Arkansas.

This team was wildly inconsistent during Brian Kelly’s first season in Baton Rouge, but it seems unlikely that this will be the case again next season. While this game will be in Starkville, it’s hard to imagine Mississippi State simply having an easy time getting a win against an LSU team that is trending in the right direction under a really good coach.

Plus there’s the timing of this game.

Mississippi State gets the pleasure of hosting the LSU Tigers right after facing the Arizona Wildcats and then just before going to Columbia to meet up with the South Carolina Gamecocks. This part of the schedule gets really rough for MSU and the Bulldogs will need to play their best football each and every week during the early part of the season.

Here’s to hoping that MSU can pull that off and get a good win over the Tigers. Or really any sort of win. I’d take any sort of win. Let’s get a win over LSU, please.

Is that too much to ask?
