By Landon Young
The Mississippi State Baseball team has not met expectations over the last season and a half. What’s the issue? Could it be a coaching problem?
The Mississippi State Baseball team is coming off a series loss at Auburn, and fans do not seem to be too happy about it.
The Mississippi State baseball team lost game one vs. the Auburn Tigers, 2-1. The Diamond Dawgs won game two by a score of 11-10. Game three was decided by a score of 12-11, and the Auburn Tigers had a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Mississippi State had every chance to go on the road and win their third straight SEC baseball series, but they could not get the job done.
Many people and fans are starting to question, “What is the problem with this year’s Mississippi State Baseball team?”
I am not here to give you a definite answer, but I did want to take a look at some of the issues I am seeing.
Many fans are placing the blame on the Mississippi State Baseball head coach, Chris Lemonis. Is he part of the problem? Well, yes, he has to be. As the head coach, you inherit the responsibility of wins and losses.

Could Mississippi State Baseball’s pitching coach, Scott Foxhall, be the real problem? Again, I am not here to give you a definite answer.
The issue this season has not seemed to be at the plate. Most of Mississippi State’s issues are coming from the pitching mound and the field.
Fielding has started to improve as the season has gone on, as many people expected, but the pitching has nearly gotten worse.
Does there need to be a change made to this staff? If there wasn’t so much pride in Mississippi State Baseball, I would say no, but Bulldog fans take this sport as seriously as the rest.
