Meet Mississippi State football 2019 recruiting class: Javeious Purvis
By Ethan Lee
2019 three-star defensive back (or athlete, depending on who you ask) Javeious Purvis joined the Mississippi State football team back in December during the early signing period.
Joe Moorhead and the Mississippi State football team were able to convince Javeious Purvis, a key member of the 2019 recruiting class, to sign back in December as part of the early signing period festivities and they have to be glad that they did that.
Purvis is a 6-foot-2 and 195 pound defensive back from Pelahatchie, Mississippi. The three-star signee who has joined the Mississippi State football team is listed as a safety on the Mississippi State recruiting class list on 247 Sports and then also an athlete on his player profile there.
Purvis actually committed to the Bulldogs all the way back in April of last year and then made things official when he joined the team during the early signing period.
Purvis wasn’t the most highly sought after recruit nationally, but he is a key recruit regionally. The Oregon Ducks, the Ole Miss Rebels, the South Alabama Jaguars, and the UAB Blazers are among all of the teams that were interested and offered the defensive back from Pelahatchie a scholarship.
Instead, Purvis chose to come to Starkville and be part of Joe Moorhead’s first Mississippi State recruiting class after his first full year leading the Bulldogs’ football team. And his decision to join the Bulldogs early on in the Moorhead era says something about where he sees this program going.
Purvis is one of 14 members of the 2019 Mississippi State recruiting class who signed with the Bulldogs a couple of months ago.
