Mississippi State Recruiting Earns Commitment from Javeious Purvis

Just like that, Mississippi State recruiting got some more good news today. Javeious Purvis has committed to the Bulldogs! Moments ago, Steve Robertson of 247Sports tweeted out that Purvis relayed his commitment intentions to Robertson.  Now, Joe Moorhead and Mississippi State now have 6 commitments in the 2019 class.

Purvis is a solid commitment for the Bulldogs. At the moment, the three-star safety is a Pelahatchie, Mississippi native and is ranked as the 27th best player in the state of Mississippi. Nationally, Purvis is currently tabbed as the 50th best safety prospect in the 2019 recruiting class by 247Sports.

Purvis is a tall, rangy safety. At 6-2 and 195 pounds, he is built to cover the entirety of the defensive backfield and should be able to move across the field with ease. His addition to this class is crucial as he is currently the safety in the group. Purvis joins DJ James in the defensive backfield.

Mississippi State beat out Ole Miss, Louisiana-Lafayette, South Alabama, Jackson State, and others for Purvis’s commitment. Purvis actually visited Oxford unofficially twice in March, but now intends to play in Starkville. Former Louisiana-Lafayette head coach Mark Hudspeth was the key recruiter for Purvis in this process.

Joe Moorhead’s staff is in a great position to sign a great class for 2019. Keeping solid in state prospects like Purvis will help Moorhead and Mississippi State out in the long run. Assuming Purvis signs with State, MSU will have kept him away from Ole Miss and out of state teams. The Bulldogs are looking to build a program that’ll succeed in the SEC. Here’s to hoping Purvis can help them do that.
