Vic Schaefer was able to convince Promise Taylor to leave Ole Miss and join the Mississippi State women’s basketball team.

There weren’t exactly many players on the Rebels’ roster from a season ago who demonstrated that they had a ton of long-term potential. There certainly weren’t many players on the Ole Miss women’s basketball team who could give Teaira McCowan some issues.

But, well, Promise Taylor did both of those.

Taylor, as a freshman coming off the bench for the Ole Miss Rebels, didn’t have the best season last year, but she did show that she could potentially contend with someone as talented as Teaira McCowan.

In Ole Miss’ second game against the Bulldogs last season, Taylor scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

That’s not the best stat line, but it is an impressive one. Now, Ole Miss will have to find a way to compete against McCowan and the Bulldogs without Taylor.

That could prove to be very difficult.
