The Egg Bowl is here! Here’s some news, notes, and music to help you get ready for the Mississippi State football team’s trip up to Oxford, Mississippi.

Tonight, the Mississippi State football team takes on the Ole Miss Rebels in the 115th Egg Bowl. I hope everyone is ready for it. If you’re not quite ready, then here’s plenty of material to help you get ready for it.

Let’s do some good.

Sarah Barnes’s Medical Expenses on GoFundMe– I’ve shared this before and I’m going to share it again. There are Mississippi State fans in need of help and we should do what we can to help them. The Barnes family is trying to raise $4,000 to pay off hospital bills after Sarah was hospitalized.

This is a young family looking to cover medical expenses. Let’s help them meet their goal. If you’re unable to donate at the moment, that’s completely understandable, but please share this where you can.

"As many of you know last week Sarah Barnes was hospitalized with severe abdominal pains. Since then she has been transferred from Baptist Golden Triangle to Birmingham for several surgeries to help address the issue of blood clots. She has been in ICU for a week, and Sarah had to have another surgery yesterday afternoon due to a clot forming and will remain in ICU for a few more days at least."

In case you missed it from Maroon and White Nation.

It’s Mississippi State football game day: Time for the 2018 Egg Bowl– It’s here. The Egg Bowl is here. I hope you’re all prepared for it. If not, well, here you go.

It’s Always Sunny in Starkville: Nick Fitzgerald continues redemption for Mississippi State football– Nick Fitzgerald is bouncing back from a rough game in Tuscaloosa. He’s had some rocky performances all year, but he’s also been pretty good as of late. Justin Strawn talks about that on his brilliantly named podcast.

Mississippi State football: Can Bulldogs overcome road struggles for Egg Bowl?– Mississippi State hasn’t been all that great when it comes to playing well on the road at times this season. Will the Bulldogs be able to improve upon their shortcomings in this game?

Mississippi State football: Joe Moorhead must win his first Egg Bowl– The Bulldogs’ head coach can’t afford to lose this game. He absolutely needs to beat Ole Miss tonight.

Can JaVonta Payton help Mississippi State football get Kelly Bryant?– Joe Moorhead and the Bulldogs want to land Kelly Bryant. Will JaVonta Payton be able to help out with those recruiting efforts?

Mississippi State football: 2018 Egg Bowl Q&A with Red Cup Rebellion– I got to chat with Two Yards and a Cloud from Red Cup Rebellion. He’s a great guy and had some great insight. It’s worth checking out.

Mississippi State news from around the internets.

  • The men’s basketball team lost on Monday despite a great comeback attempt. Check out the official MSU recap. It’s not going to put a smile on your face, but it’s worth reading to keep up with the team.
  • Oh, hey, the men’s basketball team won last night. It wasn’t a great game, but the team won. Here’s another official MSU recap.
  • The women’s basketball team continues to annihilate all of its foes. Vic Schaefer has turned MSU into a death star of women’s basketball and it’s fun to watch a team in Maroon and White crush everything it comes across. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing what this team can do this season. And yeah, here’s another official MSU recap.

Enjoy a song before today’s game.

In Trampled By Turtles’ “Ain’t No Use in Tryin’,” the narrator describes how he goes along with his friends to a bar and wakes up in a jail cell and how his significant other isn’t much of a fan of those sort of shenanigans. It’s a fun song, but don’t do anything dumb tonight to replicate what happens in the song. Enjoy the Egg Bowl responsibly, folks.
