It’s almost time for the Egg Bowl. Here’s what the Mississippi State football team must do to beat the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford.

The 2018 Mississippi State football season is coming to a close and the Bulldogs are set to take on the Ole Miss Rebels. MSU is looking for an 8th win to end the regular season on a high note and improve its standings for a potentially better bowl game. Ole Miss is simply looking to end a rough year with something to claim as positive momentum for the future.

The Rebels have limped their way through the season, losing games in frustrating fashion and falling victim to a porous defense that is routinely exposed. The Bulldogs come into this game falling short of some lofty preseason expectations, but boast a great defense and a powerful rushing attack.

That great defense is going to be tested in this rivalry game though. Ole Miss has one of the more powerful offenses in the country and can seemingly score in any given moment. Bob Shoop must do what he can to keep Ole Miss at bay.

On top of that, a Mississippi State offense that has struggled in SEC games on the road must pick things up and play better than it has in previous games this season. MSU’s offense can’t afford to simply sit back and let MSU’s defense do the heavy lifting in this game.

With how last season’s Egg Bowl went, and how this season has been a disappointing one given expectations, it would behoove Joe Moorhead and the Mississippi State football team to win this game convincingly. A strong performance and a blowout win in the Egg Bowl would make this season a bit more tolerable relative to the potential that MSU failed to play up to.

Here’s what the Mississippi State football team must do to bring the Golden Egg back to Starkville.
