Jordan Ta’amu is a good quarterback and is someone that Mississippi State football fans are pretty familiar with. He can do a lot of damage to opposing defenses and has plenty of absurdly talented wide receivers to make the Ole Miss offense interesting.
The Mississippi State football team can’t afford to let Ta’amu throw the ball at will. Mississippi State must get after the Ole Miss quarterback and force him to make errors in this game.
Ta’amu’s roughest games this season have come as opposing defenses have gotten in his face and put him on his butt. The Auburn Tigers sacked Ta’amu 6 times. He still threw for 324 yards, but only completed 58.7 percent of his passes and only had 1 touchdown.
The LSU Tigers only sacked him once, but Jordan Ta’amu still struggled in Death Valley. He completed 19 of 38 passes for 178 yards and zero touchdowns to go with one interception. Alabama got to him 4 times, only let him complete 7 passes, and picked him off twice.
And finally Vanderbilt had 3 sacks against Ole Miss while also picking Ta’amu off twice in the Rebels’ most recent loss.
The Mississippi State football team must be able to get after Jordan Ta’amu and keep him from being comfortable in the backfield. If the Bulldogs can sack him a few times and force a few errant throws, then MSU should be able to slow the Ole Miss offense.
