Nick Fitzgerald must play as close to perfect as he can.

If the Mississippi State football team is going to beat the Alabama Crimson Tide, it’s going to need a reliable way of scoring. Nick Fitzgerald has come alive as of late and seems to be capable of running Joe Moorhead’s offense. For the first time all season, things are moving efficiently on the offensive side of the ball.

The Bulldogs are going to need more than just efficient plays on offense though. The Mississippi State football team is going to need Nick Fitzgerald to play near perfect football against Alabama this weekend.

That’s going to be difficult to do as really, no quarterback has experienced meaningful success this season against Alabama. This season, Alabama is holding opposing quarterbacks to an average of 193.3 passing yards per game. Bama’s foes are only completing 51 percent of their passes.

When Alabama faced Ole Miss, Jordan Ta’amu only completed 7 of 22 attempts for 133 yards and a touchdown. Ta’amu also had two picks. When Alabama faced Texas A&M, starting quarterback Kellen Mond completed 48.5 percent of his passes for 196 yards and a touchdown. Mond also had two interceptions.

You’ll find plenty of other stat lines that seem similar to these two this season. Nick Fitzgerald will have to play at a significantly higher level than he has all season.

No pressure, Fitz.
